Bring Your Own Device Programs

Northern College requires all full time students to have and use their own laptop computer. Course materials are posted online and many courses use online tests, or require students to submit their assignments online through the College’s Learning Management System. The College’s Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) program is mandatory for all first and second year students.

IT Support

Need help connecting to the College Network, Citrix, Blackboard or Email? Please visit your campus IT Helpdesk. The operating hours for each campus are:

• Kirkland Lake: 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
• Haileybury: 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
• Timmins: 7:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.

All Programs – Except Computer Engineering

  • Intel I3 or 7th gen AMD A6 equivalent processor
  • Minimum 4GB of RAM
  • Minimum 128 GB HD
  • Minimum of 2 full size USB ports
  • Wireless 802.11ac dual band 2.4 and 5 GHz
  • Windows 10
  • Optional but recommended

    • Built in Ethernet port (RJ-45)
    • 2 year warranty
    • 4-6 hours of battery life
